The mission of Heritage Christian Center is to build the Body of Christ by preaching the Gospel of the Kingdom in all the earth “so the world may know” Jesus, believe that Father God sent Him to the earth, and receive all He came to accomplish in their lives.
We are called to win the lost and make disciples of all nations teaching people how to live as one with God.
We are called to teach Christians worldwide who they are in Christ Jesus and how to live a victorious life in their covenant rights and privileges. The fulfillment of that mission takes place when those believers become rooted and grounded enough in God’s Word to reach out and teach others these same principles.
We are called to lead people to the place where they operate proficiently in the biblical principles of faith, love, healing, prosperity, redemption, and righteousness, and to the place where they can share those principles with others.
We are called to assist believers in becoming rooted, grounded and established in the Word of God by teaching them to give God’s Word first place in their lives (Colossians 1:23; Psalm 112).
We are called to reveal the mysteries, the victorious revelations of God’s Word, that have been hidden from the ages (Colossians 1:25-28).
We are called to build an army of mature believers, bringing them from milk to meat, from religion to reality. We are called to train them to become skillful in the word of righteousness, to stand firm in the spiritual warfare against the kingdom of darkness (Hebrews 5:12-14; Ephesians 6:10-18).
We were created by God for fellowship with Him. The purpose for our existence can be summed up in this simple statement:
“To know Him and to make Him known.”
The Word of God is very clear, where there is no vision the people perish—Proverbs 29:18. To fully understand this verse you must consider the word perish to mean not only a loss of one’s life but as a loss of all the potential that life held. Vision is a must for individuals and organizations desiring to reach their full potential. From this passage we can draw the following conclusion:
“Where there is a vision the people flourish and realize their true potential.”
Jesus gave His church a very specific to do list before He left the earth and returned to the Father. Our vision at Heritage focuses on accomplishing these things by helping individual believers reach their true potential.
We believe ‘going into all the world and preaching the gospel to every creature’ is the prime directive of the church. Jesus also instructed us to ‘make disciples’. Our vision for a healthy, growing, thriving, local church works hand in hand with our vision for world evangelism. We believe you cannot effectively have one without the other.
Our vision is to grow the Kingdom by growing the church and growing the church by growing the individual families and members that make it up. According to Ephesians 4:16 this growth must be both in number and maturity.
Paul said to Timothy that, “God would have all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the Truth.” (I Timothy 2:4) Everything we are currently doing at Heritage is rooted in these two objectives.
How We Began –
Heritage Christian Center began, or as we prefer to say, “Was Born”, on June 7th, 1998 in the small showroom of a local cabinet shop. There were seventeen people in attendance that first Sunday morning, any of which are still a part of the church today.
Expecting big things while not despising small beginnings, the congregation quickly outgrew the showroom and constructed a sanctuary in the unfinished warehouse portion of the building that housed the cabinet hop. That warehouse sanctuary was dedicated September 6th, 1998 and would be home to Heritage for the next two years.
There was much anticipation all around the world when the calendar rolled over to the year 2000. Those first 12 months of a new millennium were especially important to this growing congregation. On February 14th, 2000 we broke ground on our current building and then dedicated it to the glory of God on November 19th of that same year.
We look now to the future with great expectation and a growing sense of divine destiny. We desire to be a church that continues to please Father God in everything we do. We thank him for the miraculous beginning we have experienced while continuing to believe that our best days are still ahead.
